I started illustrating this series of cute little fruit and vegetables, saying random phrases. “Turnip For What?” is the newest addition to the Fruits and Veggies family, playing off the widely popular DJ Snake and Lil Jon song, “Turn Down for What”. As you can see, I keep the illustration very simple and minimal, I incorporate my own font, and bring in minimal textures to give it a little more of a rustic feel. This is also the first of the series that I incorporated a gradient, because, well, have you ever tried to illustrate a turnip, radish or a beet? The main difference is the gradient change on a turnip body from light magenta to white. Otherwise, it can be very easy to mistake the three.
